Is it time for a life change?

Things just not working out liked you hoped?

There comes a time in everyone’s life when we need to look honestly at the situation we’ve found ourselves in, then make the hard decisions that will lead to change.

Perhaps you need to get real about your health. Maybe it’s time to get more training so you can get a better job so you can live a richer lifestyle. Or is it the state of your love life that needs to be overhauled? What ever the issue, there will be sacrifices to be made.

To live healthier, you will have to sacrifice unhealthy foods and dedicate yourself to a fitness regime. To get more training, you may have to work less and sacrifice some income until you are qualified for a better job. To improve your love life, you may need to sacrifice an old relationship or put yourself out there in new experiences that may be a bit outside your comfort zone in order to meet a different level of potential suitors.

These are the obvious forfeits needed to acquire the new goal. We must do the work after all, in order to achieve the desired results that lead to a change for the better. But to sustain the results, there is a much more important sacrifice than the physical steps needed for change.

In order to affect real change in your life that is long lasting, you need to sacrifice the stories that you tell yourself.

What do you tell yourself, about yourself? What scripts play in your head that help you make sense of who you are? If you want to change your life, these stories can no longer be true. It is time to get rid of them.

When things happen to us, we create narrative in our minds to make sense of the event.

  • I am over worked and stressed out. No wonder I’ve gained weight.
  • I never did well in math at school. That’s why I can’t seem to get my finances in order.
  • My last boyfriend dumped me. I must be unlovable.
  • I always worked a low pay service job. It’s all I good at doing.

These stories get repeated over and over in our heads creating a well worn groove that becomes our reality. In order to change our lives, we need to step out of these ruts and create new  stories that align with what we want to become.

  • I deserve to be healthy and fit.
  • I am in control of my finances.
  • I am love.
  • I can do anything I set my mind too.

Here is a little secret. To create change, you don’t have to change your life directly, only what you tell yourself about it.

When you remove the old stories and insert new, more life affirming powerful ones in their place, you shift your energy. When that happens, you automatically begin to attract the change you seek.

The real sacrifice is the energy you need to expel in order to erase the old messages. Your ego will push back. It hates change. It may even up the ante by bringing in the big guns, fear and doubt. Just keep repeating your new stories until they have created their own well worn grooves in your mind. Soon they will become your new beliefs.

Making a purposeful change in your life doesn’t have to be hard when you understand what really needs to be sacrificed. When you change out your old stories for ones that are better suited to where you want to be, the physical actions needed to fulfill the goal just become steps required to get from one place to another.

Changing your beliefs is the real sacrifice. Choose to believe that you can and start repeating that story to create the future of your dreams.
