A different Perspective To Achieving Clarity

I know I would be really good at something if only I knew what that “something” was.

We’ve all felt it. That feeling that we were destined, for something far greater than what we are currently experiencing in our lives right now. It’s there, on the peripheral edge of our vision. That million dollar idea or that world saving mission that we were born to make happen. Except we can’t quite get clear on what it actually is or how to achieve it.

Clarity is more than having a great idea or mission in life. Some would say that it’s more about knowing exactly how we are going to go about achieving it. A clear path from “A” to “B”.

*Spoiler alert*

It is a rare person indeed who has that kind of clarity. There, I said it. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the reality is, that for the vast majority of us, we are doing great if we can get clear enough to just make it through the week.

So I am going to give you another way to look at this clarity of life thing.  In truth, it is almost impossible to have enough clarity to see you through from the beginning, to the complete manifestation of a dream. Whether you know what that dream is or not.

There are just too many unknowns and uncertainty out there for the average person to calculate and accommodate. Too many changing currents that we must paddle through before we make it to our desired destination. And that’s okay because you really don’t have to have complete clarity to realise your dreams.

But there is two helpful attitudes, core values really, that you can master that will take you a long way in life, and they have nothing to do with clarity or being certain of the right plan of action to take.

Knowing Your Why

What is your why? It is your unwavering belief, your purpose, the thing that inspires you to do what it is you do that will make your dreams come true.

When you can demonstrate your passion for your beliefs, what ever they are, like minded people will be drawn to you like flies to honey.

Why is it that you want to do what you want to do? Why do you believe that your dreams are worth the effort. Why do they motivate you?

Here’s a hint. It’s not for money or fame. Those are benefits and results. Your why is what you live for even if nobody is paying you to do it.

Folks love to get behind a vision that aligns with there own belief system and when you are passionate about your why, people will willingly open doors for you, which in turn moves you forward towards the realisation of your dreams.

Let’s face it, no matter what it is that you want to achieve, there is probably someone out there already doing it. We have all seen extremely talented people fail to achieve greatness and mildly talented folks go on to reach the top of their field. They do it because they are sure of their why.

They believed that they could effect change or make a difference through their actions. Being at the top of their field was not the motivating factor for them, but rather doing what they believed with all their heart they were meant to do in life was, and like minded people, who believed it too, helped them rise to the top.

It wasn’t clarity of the dream that got them there.  It was their unwavering belief in their why that did. It was the folks that they inspired and attracted because of their passion that cleared the path as they travelled on towards the goal.

A Different Kind Of How

It’s not, how can I see my way clear to make my dreams come true, but how do I feel when I am aligned with the actions I am choosing to take to achieve my dreams.

How do you want your life to feel? For some, it may be the desire to feel at peace, to be surrounded by the calm of nature or the love of ones family. For others, they may love to feel high energy, a thrill a minute, living life on the cutting edge. Taking risks makes them feel alive.

When you decide how it is that you want to feel in life and use those feeling to guide you, those feeling become your new clarity.

Choose how you want to feel and then make decisions in your life that align with those feelings.

A person who loves the feeling of adrenaline could not be aligned with choices that are continually safe and sedate. They would stifle their progress to manifest their dreams because it would not be energetic enough for them. The same could be said for the gentle person who is forced to take unnecessary risks.

To have true clarity, your why has to be aligned with your how.

Your New Clarity

You don’t need to have all the answers in life and you certainly don’t need to have a clear plan to achieve your most precious of dreams.

What you do need, is clear understanding of your why. What it is that motivates you to do what you do, and then align it with how it is you want to feel in life. When you have the understanding of those two pieces of the puzzle, then no matter what you do, the universe will aid you with people and circumstances that will move you in the right direction.

It’s the passion for why you are following your dream and a willingness to trust and always go with what feels right for you that are the keys to bring the clarity you need to take the next step or see the next opportunity when it does arrive.

  1. What is my why? Excellent take on motivating oneself. A lack of purpose can infect thinking very badly so focusing on the “why” is a really good way to self reflect and find oneself again. Great post Diane

  2. I really relate to the “find your why” idea. We can’t all follow our passion as a full time endeavor, but we can find our why in every situation we choose to be in. Or we can find why a certain situation we didn’t choose still has value for us. The why matters. Thanks for the post!

    1. The why is your souls motivation. But do not discount your feelings. Modern society relies on others advice more than our own gut feelings. Thanks Angela for sharing 😃

  3. This wonderful post reminds me of an inspiring author who describes similar strategies/mindset to achieve clarity. (intothemagicshop – dot – com) However, I’ve found it far more difficult to achieve success than expected. But I think you’re inisight might be part of that missing piece that will help me get from A to B.

    Thank you so much!
