Happy New Year everyone! It’s resolution time.
Actually, I would never advocate for such a guilt ridden activity. We all know the statistics, over 80% of us will fail within the first 6 weeks of making them. Why would you want to set yourself up for failure right at the beginning of a new year and in this year’s case, a new decade as well. So you’ve been warned. Don’t do it.
But we are humans and we need goals and things to strive for or we do not grow. So I’ll suggest that you ask yourself a rather daunting question instead, “What do I want this year?”
Imagine you are at the end of the year. What is it that you want to have achieved? What is it that you want to have acquire and while you’re at it, think really big and project your imagination out to the end of this brand new decade. Where do you want to be in your life by Dec. 31, 2029? Now just for fun, write these goals down on a piece of paper and tuck it away. I have a little pocket in my journal that’s perfect for stuff like this. Out of sight but close enough that I won’t loose it.
Now that you have dreamed the big dreams and thought the big thoughts about your future goals, let them go. You have gotten them out of your head and safely tucked them away. They have been manifested into words and it is now up to the universe to manifest them into reality for you.
That was the easy part. Dreaming is such fun, so exciting and being at the start of a new year and a new decade we are blessed with the added energy of a fresh start. You are like the Fool card in the Tarot deck ready to take a leap off the big cliff of life, full of faith and possibilities and not yet jaded by the realities of the world we live in.
But it is not the dreaming or the law of attraction that will move you towards those lofty goals you have neatly printed on that sacred piece of paper. It is something that will take a lot more energy than thinking big dreams. Because the real question that you need to be asking yourself, and the one that will actually do far more to manifest those goals is this, “Who am I willing to become in order to support those really big dreams and goals?”
It’s not what you want but who you are willing to become to get what you want, that is the secret to realizing any dream.
Here is a big piece of wisdom to start your year off right. If you are not the kind of person who is able to handle the kind of dream you just dreamt up, you may very well be able to manifest it, but you most likely will not be able to keep it for very long.
If you imagined yourself 40 pounds lighter at the end of the year, you need to become that skinnier person now. Sure you can loose the weight, that is just an act of reducing calories, but to maintain the weight loss, you need to become a person who acts and lives like a forty pound lighter person otherwise the weight will eventually return.
If you imagined yourself as having a better job by the end of the year, then you need to become the kind of person who deserves a better job. One who willingly takes on more responsibility and works at that better job’s level.
If you want a new car by the end of the year and you imagined yourself driving around in that luxury model, then you need to become right now, the kind of person who would own that type of car. You would need to be putting the equivalent of the monthly payments aside now and you would need to be showing that you could maintain a luxury car by at the very least, maintaining the one you have now.
It is not enough to imagine and dream. Most folks think that the law of attraction is, “What your focus on is what you attract.” So if you imagine a big dream and then send it out into the universe, you will eventually be rewarded with the manifestation of that dream. While in essence, this is true, the law of attraction really is, “The attractive, magnetic power of the Universe that draws similar energies together.” You must be a vibrational match for your dream to be attracted to you. Are you willing to become that match?
Change your thoughts, change your life.
If you believe you will always have a weight problem, no matter how many pounds you lose, they will always come back because being over weight is your vibrational match.
If you always blame others for your failures, and never take responsibility for your own actions, you will never be able to handle a better paying job that requires more responsibilities.
If you can’t be disciplined enough to put enough money aside each month to cover the payments, or if you can’t maintain the car that you do have, you will never reach the goal of owning that luxury ride you dream of. You are not acting like a luxury car owner needs to act.
In order to match up with the energies of your goals, you have to go out and meet them. Just like you won’t find the partner of your dreams by staying home wishing and hoping for them, you have to be the type of person who goes out there and actively looks for them.
So the really important “resolution” you need to make for this new year and decade ahead, is to decide who it is you want to become. Who do you need to be in order for your dreams and goals to come true. Once you decide who that is, begin to be that person. Take the actions that person would take. Act how that person would act. Focus on the things that matter to that type of person. That is your part of the magnetic power of the law of attraction.
And what about the other part, the big dream or goal?
Once you embody the energies of a person who is the vibrational match to what you want to attract, you will be amazed by just how quickly the universe puts that possibility directly in your path. Because by choosing to be who you need to be in order to obtain that dream, you have fulfilled your part of the energy contract and the universe must also hold up it’s end of this immutable law.
