The Crone Learned a New Lesson (and you might too.)

Okay, in the spirit of transparency, the lesson isn’t new for me, but the insight I gained from the universe’s friendly reminder is. You see, I may not be the dullest tool in the shed but neither am I the sharpest. I am no different than anyone else, in that I sometimes let old cultural patterns take control over my common sense and spiral into the world of fear, doubt and overthinking. As was the case last week.

If you get sucked into the news media, you too might get caught in the doom and gloom that currently permeates the headlines. A looming recession, nuclear threat, and in my part of the world, an autumn heat wave and drought, have all contributed to my anxiety levels rising and causing the old patterns of fear and lack to surface.

Even thought there is no logical reason to support these fears on a personal level, I still became concerned for the security of my family and our resources.

My mother, may she rest in peace, was a card carrying pessimist and the remnants of childhood conditioning’s of scarcity and fear that she programmed into me, linger under the surface of my consciousness to this day.

I started going into a low level panic and started doubting my plans, and the projects that I’ve set out for myself, and instead, shifted into old insecurity patterns. So before I went off the rails completely and did something drastic, and perhaps not aligned with my personal beliefs, boundaries and lifestyle choices, I asked the universe to send me a sign to gain some clarity.

Now before I go into the universe’s reply, let me throw some light on what I constitute as a sign. A sign is something that is out of the ordinary or gives you a “ding ding, aha moment” kind of response. A feather or coin found in an unusual spot. A butterfly that calmly lands on you. A stranger that offers a passing comment that’s just what you need to hear, or in my case, a paragraph from the writings of the late Delores Cannon – author, speaker and hypnosis pioneer that appeared on my Facebook feed. (If you follow my Facebook page – Crone Confidence – you probably saw it reposted there.)

Now this paragraph is an inspiration on many levels but it was one line that offered me the real answer or the “ding ding, aha moment” and the lesson reminder that I so needed.

The Universe isn’t interested in your achievements… just your heart.

There are only two main emotions – love and fear, all other emotions stem from these two. The illusion is that fear is dominating the world right now. That is not true, it’s just that it’s getting more air time across all media channels.

Because we all have access to the world wide web, and it seems like everyone has something to say, the marketing professionals have learned how to rise above the noise in order to be heard. They use drama, chaos, and fear, to do so.

How many times have you seen a sensational headline that peaked your interest only to click through and find little in the story that supports the title? It’s called clickbait, they baited you with hype to hook you in. Look at your favourite news media site and notice how even your trusted information source is now using the same kind of method as well with their news headlines. The old news room saying, “If it bleeds, it leads.” has never been more true today.

So if fear, and it’s associated emotions – doubt, lack, jealousy, chaos, controversy, deceit, to name a few, are all we see out in the world right now, is it any wonder that even the most balanced of people succumb to these lower base emotions from time to time?

Here’s why this particular message from the universe was just what I needed. The universe is only interested in the highest emotions of my heart – love. The earth, and all it’s inhabitants, need the emotional energy of love to balance out the emotional energy of fear, and every single one of us, at our essence is pure love. We just forget that from time to time, or at least that’s what I’d done when I got sucked down with the negative hype currently circulating out there.

Thankfully, I know the antidote to fear, and that’s gratitude. Gratitude is love in action. To overcome the emotional energies associated with fear, you need an active energy, and practicing a daily gratitude for the blessing in you life sends out powerful energy vibes of love that attract other powerful energy vibes of love back to you.

And here’s an extra tip. When you start your day in gratitude for the day ahead, regardless of whether you know ahead of time whether it will be a good day or bad, you are actually predicting your future because the positive love energies will match with like wise energies and make it so. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself and see. What you believe, you become so if you continually believe in a positive outcome, the positive energies will be attracted back at you and manifest into a positive future.

But what about folks right now who are suffering, we might ask? How can we not help but share in their sorrow? Of course we will feel compassion and empathy, those are energies of love as well, but consider this: Imagine if we all became overwhelmed with fear because we felt afraid with and for those who suffer from war, famine, or homelessness. Remember, we become what we believe so how would sending out low vibrating energies into the world help others?

Now imagine if the majority of the world’s population practiced gratitude on a daily basis. At a minimum we would act as beacons of love for those seeking it, but the real truth is, we would be supporting those in need of love by flooding the whole world with the vibrational energy of it.

So the lesson, or the little refresher class I got in answer to my request for clarity? It doesn’t matter what you do or how much you make, heart energy is the real universal currency. We create our own emotional poverty by dwelling in the realms of fear, lack and doubt. Alternately, we create a life of love and joy when we actively practice gratitude for the gifts we have received.

It’s not about the material realm, it doesn’t matter what we have or do not have, and no amount of fear mongering is going to change that. But if we wish for a better outcome going forward then we have to understand that heart energy is the currency of the future.

I know this to be true, but I’m also proof that we need to get over the programming’s of the past and fall in love with the future, over and over again until joy and gratitude become the future.

That’s the clarity that the universe gave to me, and my heart is swelling with gratitude.

  1. Thank you! I’m grateful for receiving your email this morning. It renews my belief in the power of gratitude and higher vibrations in the Universe. Thank you.

    1. Thank you Nancy! And your message was the first I saw this morning. What a lovely way to start my day as well. Proof that gratitude really does come back to you. 🙏

  2. What a lovely post, thank you for sharing Diana. Particularly in these times many hearts need clarity. The trouble is so many of us find clarity confronting, and end up dwelling in the fear realms instead. Gratitude is the key to unlocking the heart and coming back to self. Truly all that matters is what’s in our heart, when we leave this existence all that will be left is what’s in our heart.
I stumbled upon your lovely post and blog while researching the crone archetype further after reading the chapter, “And a Crone Shall Lead Them” in Dancing in the Flames by Marion Woodman. Truly a message I and many others needed to hear, and by no accident the great universe has lead me here.

    1. Thank you Suni for finding my site and reaching out. I hope you get a chance to visit again.
I too believe that the “Crones Shall Lead Them”. We are the connection between the past and the present. We offer tradition but also mentorship for the next generation of leaders. But the baby boomers are a unique generation in such that they are the last pre- computer generation. This is an important perspective as we were raised in a simpler time. We are the guides back to community connection and the morals lost to technology.
Well, that’s my opinion at any rate.
Blessings to you as you travel you own path,
