Finding My Personal Power Word for 2016

I’ve seen a lot of post lately about having a personal power word. The idea being to find a word that embodies the essence of who you are and what it is that you want to achieve. One word.

So I decided to give this idea some thought and come up with my own personal power word for 2016. A word that epitomizes my goals for the coming new year.

The first thing I had to do was decide what my goals would be for the year ahead. What is it I want to achieve? What do I want to create and manifest into being in 2016 and also, where do I want to go? I know for sure that I want some adventures.

Once I got that figured out the next step to finding my personal power word is to decide how do I want to be?

This is a step people sometimes forget when they are making their New Year’s resolutions. It is one thing to decide you want to get healthy and lose weight for instance, but if you give no thought to who you will become once you achieve this goal, you run the risk of sliding back into your former self because you have no image of your new way of being cemented in your head.

I think on this and conceive an image of the person I want to develop into this coming year based on who I am as an authentic being and how I want to be perceived to the outside world.

So I have the what, my plans and goals, and I know the who, an image of my evolved self, and with this information, a word popped into my head: Curiosity. This is the word I want to replicate in 2016. Being interested with life, asking lots of questions, investigating new roads, that is how I want my year to unfold. I want to let my inner child come out and play.

But there is one more aspect that I need to check into before I run with this word. You see, words are power. They have a vibrational energy that manifests positively or negatively. Have you ever read a piece of writing that has resonated in your soul? Perhaps a poem or song that tears you up every time you here it. Maybe unkind words from a loved one is still rattling around in your heart rubbing it’s edges raw. That is the energy of words in action.

So I turn to numerology for help. Numerology is the study of numbers, and the manner in which they reflect certain aptitudes and character tendencies. In the case of words each letter in the alphabet is assigned a corresponding number. When a word is broken down to it’s base number, it’s vibrational tendencies can be obtained.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Using the chart above I work out the word curiosity.

3+3+9+9+6+1+9+2+7= 49 then add  4+9= 13  then add 1+3=

Four is the base number for curiosity. So what does that mean?

One of my favourite books on numerology is called The Power of Words by Michelle Arbeau  In her book she offers this meaning for the number four: Practical Doer It represents stability, steady progress, practicality, and organization. Four is the “anchor” of the physical plane and is represented by the solid and stable construction of the square with four equal sides.

This sounds a little too safe and predictable for how I want 2016 to manifest for me. Not exactly what I am looking for. So I alter my word a bit to curious and test it out using the chart above.

3+3+9+9+6+3+1= 34  then add  3+4= 7

Seven is the base number for curious.

I go back to Michelle Arbeau’s book for the vibrational meaning of seven: Truth Seeker Seven is the last and most active of the physical plane numbers. As the teaching and learning number, it is high on “doing” energy. The seven learns through personal experience (often through hindsight), preferring to leap first and think later. Sacrifice and loss tend to be the rule of thumb for seven energy, but such learning sets the stage for accumulating tremendous amounts of knowledge and wisdom in a short amount of time making seven the self-made wise sage.

Well apart from the sacrifice and loss part, this vibrational energy is a better fit for me for coming year. But when you think about it, isn’t that how we learn? We attempt (make a sacrifice), we fail (we lose), then we attempt again and again until we master the goal. Seven is more about achieving and jumping right in and getting ones hands dirty. It’s about taking chances and just maybe having an adventure or two along the way.

2016 will be my year to be curious!

I hope this gets you thinking about a personal power word for 2016 for yourself. At least, I hope, that you give thought to what you want to achieve next year and how you want to be. When you have a compass point to mark the start of your yearly journey, you can never get lost. You will always have that point to go back to in which to start out again.

It is my hope that having a personal power word that embodies the essence of who I am and where I want to go will be that starting point for me in 2016 and it can be for you too.

Let me know what word you decide on.
